The D3 Family Funds are growth-at-the-right-price (GARP) investors in micro-cap stocks, which we define as companies with equity market capitalizations up to $1.5 billion.
Currently we manage four D3 Family Funds: the original D3 Family Fund, LP for accredited investors, the D3 Family Bulldog Fund, LP for 3(c)7 qualified investors, the DIII Offshore Fund, LP for foundations and investors who are neither American taxpayers nor residents, and the D3 Family Canadian Fund, LP for 3(c)7 qualified Canadian investors. The funds invest together, following the identical investment philosophy.
D3 investors must meet all relevant SEC’s requirements for net worth, investment assets, and/or income. The minimum investment in the funds is $1,000,000. Investors must commit to invest with D3 for at least five years.
In order to preserve the funds’ quality and flexibility, we limit the amount of new investment dollars we accept annually to only 5% of our prior year end balance.
Current investors include approximately 50 current or former partners of Bain & Company and Bain Capital (including everyone who has ever been President or Chairman of Bain & Company), numerous general partners of leading private equity firms, and many public company CEO’s, CFO’s, and directors. Most D3 investors have known David or Henry personally for some time before investing. All others have been referred to us by our existing investors. Hence our name: The D3 Family Funds.
